Cut a straight-grained, 1- to 4-inch-wide stem of an established desert rose plant at a right angle with lopping shears just above a 4- to 6-inch portion that has no side branches or knots emerging from it. This plant will serve as the rootstock. Cut the stem during the plant’s dormant period.
Then, why do you graft desert roses?
* Grafting: This is the fastest way to get another adult flowering plant. Grafting a branch from a plant with the flower colour you want onto root stock will produce an adult plant with the desired flower colour quite quickly.
